The Green revolution is here. Celebrating Italy’s first hydrogen bus
At the Brenner highway's southern exit, you can find these gates protecting Bozen’s bus fuelling station. Bozen has been using hydrogen buses since 2013. These buses were introduced as part of the EU project “Clean Hydrogen in European Cities” (CHIC) and help gather experience with this technology.
Hydrogen buses generate electricity from braking. Moreover, they are also silent and environmentally friendly thanks to the electrochemical reaction between hydrogen and oxygen. This process generates heat and vapour at the back but no harmful gas.
